Government must fund vehicle alternative options

TramTrains able to run on streets and heavy rail, letter writer says.

Re: Rail proponent offers another perspective on E&N (Other Views, Jan. 23)

TramTrains would be able to run on streets and heavy rail. The writer says that to achieve this there would need to be an Island-wide transportation authority with funding.

Is there any provincial transportation planning for the Island beyond trying to rescue the Malahat and cut ferry services?

The future of rail on the Island depends on the government to act to rationalize governance and management of Island transportation and fund alternatives to the automobile.

Meanwhile, deck chairs are re-arranged, but is there any move to save the ship?
