We have always been headed for rapid transit. It just doesnB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t include the very inefficient E&N.
As we see with the McTavish interchange it is costly and doesnB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t reduce the amount of motor vehicles on the road B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” it only caters to them.
Whether an improved transit bus system or the addition of light rail, the barrier remains B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” getting people to use it.
If we are to invest in a very costly LRT system, we should consider changes to development where money goes to an LRT rather than parking stalls, increase surcharges that help people spontaneously use transit seeing it as an essential community infrastructure. In short B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·” make it too expensive to drive the car.
