Re: Connection sought for Goose (Gazette, Jan. 29)
Oh, how short the memories of municipal councils.
As a 20-plus year Galloping Goose commuter, I remember when the Island Highway intersection at Ocean Boulevard/Wale Road was redone, along with the water/sewer lines going up the hill towards Colwood Corners.
The talk was how to keep the Galloping Goose connected: B次元官网网址渁 relocated overpass from another community;B次元官网网址 or, B次元官网网址渉ow about a culvert under the road so we donB次元官网网址檛 have to worry about height restrictions?B次元官网网址
Neither was done and instead, a municipal bylaw sign was posted citing a fine for not crossing the road at an intersection that does not connect the trail.
The situation the City of Colwood created for cyclists and pedestrians B次元官网网址渋snB次元官网网址檛 safe,B次元官网网址 complains Coun. Chong, but I would suggest the council of the day was not that concerned about connecting all road users, just the ones in automobiles.
So here we are, almost 15 years later, trying to figure out how to connect the trail that was torn apart.
