Re: Ottawa bound MPs in for a fight, Our View, May 6, 2011.
Your editorial asserts that since the Conservatives came second in all three Greater Victoria ridings, the federal government would be BԪַfoolsBԪַ to ignore the region.
This understates the scale and potential consequences of the rebuke voters handed the Conservative party on May 2.
By rejecting a strong Conservative slate comprising an influential cabinet minister, a popular, third-time contender, and a respected local businessman, the region placed itself firmly in the opposition camp.
The suggestion that the majority Conservative government, elected without seats from Greater Victoria, will respond by showering our region with federal largesse simply defies logic.
The voters in Greater Victoria chose three voices in opposition, rather than three members of a stable, majority government who could have achieved real results for our region.
LetBԪַs hope common sense prevails next time around.
