Columnist wades deep into manure

The merits of the refinery talk have advanced the debate over the Enbridge pipeline

Re: Separating oil from manure (B.C. Views, Sept. 5)

Thanks Tom Fletcher for another well-researched column about oil and manure. Surely, the merits of the refinery talk have advanced the debate over the Enbridge pipeline.

In one simple way, the debate continues to advance deeper into the manure.

Your global studies from nearly a decade ago, Andrew WeaverB次元官网网址檚 omniscient greenhouse gas theory regarding coal versus oil, and your CERA report on where fossil fuel emissions come from all fail to address the one truth that you mistakenly added to your article: B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 not tankers and pipelines doing most of the polluting, itB次元官网网址檚 you and me.B次元官网网址

Indeed, you and I are doing the polluting. The serious debaters here know this and that is the main point of contention.

Since all of us seem unable to curtail our wasteful and stupendous exploitation of archaic energy sources then why continue to facilitate them?

We dictate regulatory controls over B次元官网网址渉ardB次元官网网址 drug use and many other social ills, and now some of us are wanting to put ourselves in rehab.

It seems promoters such as yourself want to literally pipeline this product to new, larger and currently less-addicted part of the globe.

I have little doubt that you will succeed; I have a lot of hope that you wonB次元官网网址檛.
