BEEF: I have to shout loud asking why cyclists insist on travelling on the sidewalks, or on roadways where there are bike lanes. Several times over the last few weeks I have had to jump out of the way with my kids. Riders approach at unsafe speeds and have no respect for sharing the space. Since when did we give all the rights away to these cyclists? I have a child just learning how to ride her bike and we use the Galloping Goose often. When we do this she has to come to a complete stop when disrespectful bikers come racing past her. It freaks her out. At least I can take this as a teaching moment and let her know what not to do as a new rider! Perhaps we do need to start licensing the cyclists.
BOUQUET: I want to offer a personal bouquet to Mayor Rob Martin and the amazing councillors and staff of the City Of Colwood for the way they handled the Esquimalt Lagoon closure these past five months. It caused longtime Lagoon residents like me and my family to fall in love with Ocean BoulevardB次元官网网址檚 spit of land, the walking trails and the beautiful beach all over again. It was amazing time to be able to enjoy the area during these different Covid 19 times. Previously, Lagoon Road, Milburn Road and Ocean Boulevard constantly had people jumping the stop signs, travelling at high speeds and passing cars on double solid lines. It was dangerous to drive or to walk on any of these roads. When the Lagoon was completely closed to all traffic for the first few months, it was the nicest experience for all of us, to be able to spend peaceful times walking the Lagoon early mornings, during the day and many evenings.
BOUQUET: Huge kudos and appreciation to Tracy at the seafood department at Superstore. I phoned every morning to check if a certain seafood product had been delivered and she was always polite, friendly, patient and most of all, knowledgeable. I happened to be talking to another customer who shared his positive story about TracyB次元官网网址檚 help with the selection of some seafood. He was also impressed. She wasnB次元官网网址檛 just doing her job, she went above and beyond and I extend my gratitude for all she did for me.
BEEF: I hate beefing about anything, but I have to respond to those who enjoy good health, are able to walk the Lagoon and are pleased with the road closure. Our family has lived in the western communities for 65 years. My mom would take us to the Lagoon beach most days in the summer. Now that she is 85 she has lost her mobility. Nevertheless occasionally I would drive her to the Lagoon, park, and we would reminisce about good times we enjoyed as a family. I would just ask that people remember the B次元官网网址榦ld timersB次元官网网址� and the effect it has on their enjoyment of these beautiful places, when celebrating limiting access to B次元官网网址榓llB次元官网网址� people in our community. It really is sad to see such access taken away from the older ones simply because they can no longer keep up with those who are fortunate to have good health.
BOUQUET: Thank you to all Colwood residents for keeping our municipality clean and family friendly. I recently moved to the Royal Bay area and I am enjoying how friendly and inviting the neighbourhoods are. Most places are well kept and I enjoy going on my walks with my family and hearing the laughter of children and looking at the well-kept gardens. Thank you for welcoming us into the neighbourhood. I look forward to many more years to come.
BEEF: I believe in development in any community at a reasonable pace, but when I saw the number of trees coming down over by McCallum my heart sank. Do we really need to be cutting down so much green space? Is Langford developing to much too fast? I donB次元官网网址檛 have the answer and I know our community is growing but itB次元官网网址檚 just sad to see all of the clear cutting.
BOUQUET: A thousand thank yous to the City of Langford for bringing in the Show and Shine this weekend. It was very different from last year, but my grandfather enjoyed the drive by of all the classic cars and hot rods this weekend. Even though it was different this year, it still allowed my grandfather to get out of the house for an hour and enjoy the scene. Just for his mental health he needed this to take his mind off of the isolation he is feeling due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Please continue to bring these types of events to our community for residents to enjoy. Thank you Langford for making it possible even with the Pandemic
BOUQUET: A big bouquet to Cole at Fountain Tire in Langford on Jacklin Road. I went in without an appointment and Cole delivered. Within a couple hours I had new tires at a great price and he was so polite and speedy at getting back to me. Thanks Cole for such great customer service!
BEEF: A big loud thundering beef to the construction companies that feel the need to start before 7 a.m.! They are disrespectful to residents in the area with their hammering and thudding around. Go grab a coffee and return when the bylaw states you can start working.
