Here are this weekB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s thank-yous and gripes about happenings in and around our West Shore community:
BOUQUET: A big thank you to Mayor Stew Young and his council for all their good work over the past 30 years. You leave office with a legacy of having the leading and most envied municipality in Greater Victoria. There are many projects which you have helped to bring to Langford which people can enjoy for many years to come.
BEEF: In his radio interview after his loss, LangfordB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s outgoing mayor could have offered best wishes and support for the new mayor and council. Instead, he chose negativity and disparaging words. Many good things were done over your time as mayor, but your parting shots are what will be remembered now.
BOUQUET: to author Melody Jade of Intrabit One World for a phenomenal debut novel based on her life. Wish you all the success in your dreams of promoting the island economy and literacy by launching this project.
BEEF: to the former Colwood councillors who approved the oversized apartment buildings next to Havenwood Park. The trees are being cut down now and there is no buffer to protect the park.
BOUQUET (from my eight-year-old daughter): I love how there are so many fun places to go in Langford.
BIG BOUQUET: to the UPS store in Westshore Mall for helping me to ship a family heirloom silver service to my granddaughter in Ontario. Great service and it arrived on time and in perfect condition.
BEEF: to the drivers who do not make a full stop, and look for pedestrians crossing, when turning right at a red light. Pedestrians do have the right of way, especially crossing on a green walking light. Learn to slow down and watch, before turning right at a red light.

BOUQUET: to all of the houses that went all out with their Halloween decorations on the West Shore. Everything looks so spooky and festive B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·“ great to see so many smiles from looking at all the ghosts and ghouls!
BEEF: to the squirrels that have been eating through my jack-o-lanterns! IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™m glad you have a snack but at this point IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™m not going to be able to even light them because these pesky little gremlins eat through the middle. Please leave my pumpkins alone!
BOUQUET: to all of the workers who are based outside (construction, landscaping, etc) that are currently dealing with our rainy weather during their shifts. Thank you for your dedication and please stay dry and warm during this wet spell.
BOUQUET: to all the cyclists who wear reflective clothings, have front and back LED lights and obey the road rules. As a motorist I really appreciate this as it is so dark now.
BOUQUET: to all the volunteers for the Poppy Fund for the Langford Legion. This year the need is greater for all community groups and the legion being closed since May. Great move to have a QR code to scan as a lot of people donB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t carry cash anymore. Good work!
BOUQUET: to the salmon who are working so hard to swim upstream with the water levels being so low. Now with all the heavy rain I hope they are happily spawning up river.
