Here are this weekB次元官网网址檚 thank yous and gripes about happenings in and around our West Shore community:
BIG BOUQUET: to all the Colwood city road crews, working long hours night and day to keep the streets clear of snow and safe from ice. We patient citizens thank you all so very much.
BEEF: to drivers who donB次元官网网址檛 understand how to turn their headlights on during adverse weather. If I canB次元官网网址檛 see you until youB次元官网网址檙e braking, I canB次元官网网址檛 see you. Please keep yourself and others safe while driving.
BOUQUET: to everyone who plows the roads in Metchosin. I was expecting a less-than-ideal commute to work this week, but I was greeted by the roads looking clear as ever. Thank you to everyone who worked to keep the roads safe.
BIG BEEF: to people who either are unaware that they need to brush all the snow off their car, or are simply unwilling to. It is lazy and endangers other drivers. The road conditions are enough to worry about without needing to watch out for large piles of snow flying off your roof, and into my windshield. Why put others in danger instead of taking an extra two minutes to clear your roof off?
BIG BOUQUET: to BosleyB次元官网网址檚 in Westshore Town Centre. With all the salt and snow, I had to take extra precautions for my dogB次元官网网址檚 paws. The staff were patient and helped me find snow boots for my dog and answered all my questions. You rock BosleyB次元官网网址檚!
BIG BOUQUET: to everyone at Victoria Contracting who has had to work overnights and through to keep the streets plowed and salted. Thank you for keeping the roads safe for everyone in Langford.
BOUQUET: The neighbours of Jim Cameron wish to give him a big thank you for using his snowblower as much as he possibly could, to keep our driveways and walkways clear during this arctic chill.
BEEF: to the planning department at The City of Colwood for approving a monster home on a tiny lot in Royal Bay. The house doesnB次元官网网址檛 even fit in with houses around it. Stop catering to the developer in this area.
BEEF: to all the businesses that did not clean off their sidewalks during our snowy weather. Shame on you for many reasons. You are required to do this for safety reasons. If I see a business without the sidewalk cleaned I am reluctant to shop there. Come in early to get this done.
BEEF: to all the drivers with summer tires driving dangerously on our roads. Stay home, get snow tires or take public transit. I have seen several near misses due to icy and snowy streets.
BOUQUET: Thank you to all the businesses and municipalities for all their holiday lights and decorations as we all need some holiday cheer this season. It was great seeing so many homes with wonderful displays and stores with a real festive feel. Really appreciated.
BEEF: to all the bad dog owners, only a small percentage. Pick up after your dog! If you have a dog be responsible. No one should have to dodge doggie poo on sidewalks and in parking lots. There are free dog bags on posts throughout the West Shore. Shame on you!
BOUQUET: to our bus drivers for being so friendly and good drivers during our recent snow. I was not about to drive in it and I really appreciate the great service we have here from BC Transit.

BIG BOUQUET: to the person in front of me at the Starbucks drive-thru who paid for my coffee on Saturday. I was having a bad day until you turned it around with your kindness. Thank you!
BOUQUET: for the lack of fireworks this New YearB次元官网网址檚. We heard a few go off, but nothing like the sounds of fireworks being launched into the wee hours of the morning like years past. I guess the snow was good for something after all.
