Here are this weekB次元官网网址檚 thank yous and gripes about happenings in and around our West Shore community:
BOUQUET: to Randy at Millstream Co-op in Langford for offering to help me fill my low tire when I stopped in after noticing a warning on my dashboard. This is not my usual gas station and so I appreciated the help as I was not sure how to operate the air pump. He also checked and filled all four tires for me. Being a senior with limited knowledge of car maintenance, I will certainly stop by there again for gas and to get my tires checked.
BIG BEEF: to my neighbour who never cleans up after their dog. Outside and in the parking garage!
BEEF: to all the irresponsible drivers that deem it their right not to stop or slow down at the three-way stop signs at Painter and Dressler roads! So many of these drivers are parents driving their children to school, who are sadly also teaching them the rules of the road are to be ignored. The drivers include transit bus drivers, couriers, even one local church youth pastor who think not stopping is their right. This intersection is dangerous by virtue of the vast majority of drivers who donB次元官网网址檛 come to a stop or worse yet actually speed up and slingshot themselves around the corner. Happens daily and is particularly bad before and after school.
HUGE BOUQUET: to Visions Electronics in Millstream Village. Always great service from very knowledgeable staff without high pressure to purchase. They answer our questions in a way we understand and are always patient. Their prices are great and they stand behind their products.
BEEF: to higher property tax assessments. You might think youB次元官网网址檙e going to be richer for it but it likely could just mean more taxes. Right now it looks like your taxes will be the same but they reduced the mill rate from last year. And you canB次元官网网址檛 fight a change in the mill rate when it goes way up next year. Appeal your assessment while you can. You will regret it if you donB次元官网网址檛.
BEEF: to the people blocking traffic all over the city on Saturday for the Trucker Convoy. You missed Ottawa by a few kilometres.
BOUQUET: to the awesome staff at Mod Pizza in Belmont Market! I went to Mod for the first time this weekend, and usually pizza is off-limits for me as IB次元官网网址檓 allergic to gluten. There were lots of options and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Thanks for the great pizza.
BEEF: to the Langford drivers who think theyB次元官网网址檙e sneaky while texting at red lights. Your entire head is looking down at your lap and you have to be honked at to realize youB次元官网网址檙e operating a vehicle and green means go. Even if you drive a jacked-up truck you still have to obey the rules of the road. Enjoy your $2,000 fine when you get caught!
BOUQUET: to our newspaper carrier who delivers our paper every Wednesday without fail, no matter the weather. Thank you to you and your parents for going with you on every newspaper delivery run. We appreciate everything you do for us. Good on you for learning the value of a job from such a young age.
BEEF: to whoever lets their dog poop all over the Tim Hortons parking lot on Goldstream. Every time I walk through here I have to keep my eyes on the ground to make sure I donB次元官网网址檛 get doggy waste all over my shoes. Cleaning up after your dog goes No. 2 on the sidewalk is part of owning a dog. Be better.
