Here are this weekB次元官网网址檚 thank-yous and gripes about happenings in and around our West Shore community:
BEEF: to Colwood engineers who didnB次元官网网址檛 put a sensor in the left-turn lane on Sooke Road to Goldstream Avenue at London Drugs. We had to endure the construction for over a year, only to be back in the Colwood Crawl again to watch that turn signal flash with no one in it.
BOUQUET: HereB次元官网网址檚 to our former View Royal mayor, David Screech. David was our mayor from 2014-2022. A fine man, accessible, kind and caring. Thank you David for your leadership on issues such as environmental stewardship, affordable housing, COVID, transportation and much more. WeB次元官网网址檒l miss you. We wish you the best that life can bring your way.
BEEF: To the selfish, lazy people who bring their dogs to our Selwyn Road mobile home park property and leave their dog poop behind as well as all their cigarette butts! Please be respectful of others.
SPECIAL BOUQUET OF THANKS: to our residents at 14 Erskine Lane for participating in our annual Christmas food drive on Dec. 3. We donated over 60 bags with groceries and toys plus many envelopes with monetary donations to the Goldstream Food Bank. Thank you, your kindness is absolutely overwhelming.
BEEF: To the irresponsible dog owners in the 600 block of Goldstream Avenue. Please pick up after your pets! Langford goes to great lengths to beautify our community and the majority of the community respect that effort and keeps it clean. Have some respect for your neighborhood! Not only is it disgusting, it is inconsiderate. Shame on you! To those of you who do pick up after your dogs, thank you it is much appreciated!
HUGE BOUQUET: to the high school students who went door to door on Wednesday night collecting food donations. It was a cold night but they were so pleasant and cheery. Thank you, you give me hope for this planetB次元官网网址檚 future! Well done!
BOUQUET: to Mandy, our one-horse open carriage driver around Langford tonight. She was kind and friendly and made our Christmas experience wonderful. Beef: to the animal rights protesters who met our one-horse open carriage as we came back to the park. Do you really think showing your angry signs and yelling at our children that what they are doing is making the horse suffer in slavery is appropriate?
BOUQUET: to Black Press Media. Just a note to say thank you for picking my name to win tickets in your contest for the Buddy Holly Jolly Christmas concert at the MacPherson on Dec. 7. It was an awesome concert and I totally enjoyed it. It was the first time I had seen a Buddy Holly show. I took my dearest friend to share the tickets as a Christmas present for her and she just loved it. Many thanks again for lifting my spirits and making the evening so enjoyable.
