Here are this weekB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s thank-yous and gripes about happenings in and around our West Shore community:
A HUGE FAREWELL BOUQUET: to Capital Iron. Definitely no store like it. It will certainly be missed. It was much more fun there than online, even found things we didnB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t know we needed. Thanks for all the years of serving Greater Victoria and the whole Island.
A HUGE BOUQUET: to the friendly gentleman who found my phone/ID/credit cards in Bulk Barn Langford on Nov. 11 and kept it safe until I found him. Such a relief and a reminder there are good honest people out there.
BEEF: to the drivers who donB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t let their windshields defrost before pulling out of their driveways. ItB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s the time of year when people donB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™t budget an extra five minutes to let their car warm up. Not only is that bad for your vehicle, but youB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™re a danger to yourself and others! Smarten up.
BOUQUET: to all landscapers, construction workers, and anyone else who continues to work outside throughout the chilly weather. I hope you are all staying warm and healthy. Thanks for all your work.
BOUQUET: to all of the volunteers at the Goldstream Food Bank who are already working on Christmas hampers. A lot of families are struggling with groceries this year and all your effort is appreciated by the entire community regardless of if they access food bank services. If youB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™re reading this, please try to find some non-perishable donations for those who need them and be extra appreciative for what you have!
BOUQUETS OF ROSES: to Cory of Westshore Gold and Silver on Goldstream Avenue, next to the fountain. ThereB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s everything B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·˜gold and silverB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ there. I took my watch to have a battery replaced and mentioned that IB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™d only had this battery for three months. He stated that a watch battery should last three to five years. He then not only replaced the battery but also repaired and tightened the watch band. Then he told me B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·˜No charge.B´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™ Thank you, Cory!
BIG BEEF: to the construction company building the six-storey apartment by Sooke and Jacklin for not providing their workers with onsite parking. YouB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™re causing conflict between workers and neighbours.
BOUQUET: to all the responsible dog owners I saw last week after dark. The dogs were all wearing light-up collars which is great, especially for black dogs. A loud noise can startle them and they could bolt into traffic.
BOUQUET: to all the seasonal workers now the extended holiday hours have started everywhere. We really appreciate it, and shop local everyone!
BEEF: to the drivers, especially in a white BMW 325, who zoom ahead when a merge is coming up in 400 meters and then cut you off!
