Youth pastor's court date adjourned until fall

Former Colwood youth pastor Ira Parmenter is being charged with sexual expolitation for an alleged 16-month long relationship with a 16-year-old girl in 2007 and 2008.

Former Colwood youth pastor Ira Parmenter has had his court date adjourned until Sept. 13.

Parmenter, a youth pastor with the Colwood Pentecostal Church between 2003 and 2009, is charged with for an alleged inappropriate sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl between July 2007 and November 2008.

Arrested in Newfoundland on May 11, Parmenter was released from custody with instructions to appear at the Western Communities Courthouse Thursday, June 21. Parmenter did not appear but retained a lawyer who arranged the adjournment.

At least a dozen people, young and old, were in the courtroom on Thursday, including Parmenter's brother.
