Construction on the highly-anticipated Colwood Corners development is expected to begin this week.
The Onni Group, developer of the project, received the initial building permits from the City of Colwood for the site at 1913 Sooke Rd. recently. The initial permit encompasses overall site, civil, and landscape preparation. Building permits are expected to be issued later this summer.

The first phase of the project, which is slated for completion in 2020, will include the construction of three mid-rise residential buildings and an additional 152,000 square feet of commercial space, housing four anchor tenants, including one major grocery store.
Once complete, the 12.5-acre site will also feature 471 residential units. Plans also include new pedestrian and cycling connections to the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, as well as landscaped public spaces with seating, lighting and places for kids to play. New bike lanes and boulevards are planned for the frontage along Sooke Road.
