Police are still searching for a suspect in a recent attempted robbery under the Millstream Road/Highway 1 overpass in Langford.
As well, West Shore RCMP are particularly interested in speaking to a woman who slowed her vehicle down while traveling on the highway and may have witnessed the incident, which happened about 5 p.m. on May 14.
A 15-year-old Langford boy sitting under the overpass was approached by a man in black clothing who was wearing a black ski mask. The unknown man produced a knife and attempted to rob the youth, but the teen fought off his attacker and was able to run away without injury.
The victim waited four days to report the incident to police, which West Shore RCMP Const. Alex Berube says is not uncommon. B次元官网网址淪ometimes victims just donB次元官网网址檛 want to report incidents, (but) after putting some thought into it, they decide to (do so later),B次元官网网址 he said.
Police encourage people to report incidents immediately, he added. B次元官网网址淭his helps us in responding quickly in hopes of apprehending any suspects, especially when their identities are not known to the victim.B次元官网网址
Berube reminded people to always be aware of their surroundings, as crime can happen at any time, as evidenced by this event happening in broad daylight.
