It was a busy summer season for the West Shore RCMPB次元官网网址檚 new bike patrol unit with 30 arrests and a number of stolen items recovered.
The unit started on July 3 and since then, has had more than 30 arrests. With assistance from the detachmentB次元官网网址檚 crime analyst, members of the unit have also been targeting known prolific offenders and were able to recover seven bicycles, four vehicles, one tent trailer, and a dirt bike.

The unit consists of four full-time members who constantly patrol the West ShoreB次元官网网址檚 trail system as well as other areas that are difficult to access with a regular patrol vehicle.

Officers head out in pairs on red and black Rocky Mountain bikes.
The local detachment had a summer bike patrol in the past, but this is the first time it has had a full-time, year-round unit to enforce criminal code offenses and provincial statutes in areas that are difficult to access with police cars.
