The search for a wanted parolee ended Thursday afternoon when Victoria police picked up Dezmond White during a traffic stop in Esquimalt.
Earlier in the week, police put out a public call to find White, who failed to return to his Surrey halfway house in late August. His parole identification was found at the Saanich Fair last weekend, which indicated to police he was in Greater Victoria.
White was spotted late morning on Thursday in the 2500-block of Wark St., but was able to evade arrest.
He was spotted a few hours later in the backseat of a vehicle during a traffic stop in Esquimalt.
White was serving a federal sentence for break and enter, uttering threats and firearms offences that occurred in Saanich and Victoria in 2010.
