The job entails raising and lowering the Johnson Street bridge according to standing orders and regulations to permit the passage of marine traffic; operate radio to contact marine traffic to schedule bridge lifts; control vehicular, rail and pedestrian traffic by operating gates, traffic lights and warning devices; turn on navigation, pier and roadway lights and replace lights as required; raise and lower bridges manually using emergency procedures and stand-by engines.

The successful applicant would: Clean and maintain machinery rooms and areas; lubricate gears, trunnions and gates; conduct operational inspection of auxiliary motors; maintain records of marine and rail traffic and bridge operations; and perform related duties where qualified.
Skills required include operating a cantilever bridge; maintain accurate records. Grade 10 education and one year of B次元官网网址渞elated experienceB次元官网网址 or equivalent are required for the temporary shift position.
