Victoria police take 11 impaired drivers off long weekend roads

This brings the total number of individuals charged with impaired driving by VicPD since the Victoria Day long weekend to 126

A tourist from France was one of 11 impaired drivers Victoria police nabbed behind the wheel throughout the Labour Day long weekend.

This brings the total number of individuals charged with impaired driving by VicPD since the Victoria Day long weekend (May 21) to 126.

The eleven incidents over the Labour Day weekend included 10 90-day roadside prohibitions to drunk drivers, and one driver found to be impaired by drugs.

Two drivers, a 32-year-old Victoria man and a 17-year-old Saanich woman, were issued IRPs for incidents that occurred Friday morning.

Three drivers received IRPs early Saturday morning, including a 35-year-old woman from France.

Police issued four IRPs to drivers early Sunday morning, including one to a 27-year-old Langford woman who hit a taxi and fled.

And a 39-year-old Saanich man received an IRP early Monday morning, after he was found passed out in his car at Mayfair Shopping Centre, after hitting a road sign on a centre median earlier in the morning.

A 20-year-old Colwood man was found to be impaired by drugs after being pulled over near Queens and Vancouver streets. An undisclosed amount of marijuana and a digital scale were seized.
