Guy Gene Tomoff is wanted by Victoria police after the 50-year-old walked away from a halfway house in Victoria where he was serving a federal sentence. Police say the parolee has a history of violence and should not be confronted.

Victoria police are hoping someone knows the whereabouts of a federal parolee with a history of violence who has been on the loose since late January, likely in Greater Victoria,

Guy Gene Tomoff, 50, was in the middle of serving his third federal sentence for a 2009 robbery in which he tied up a woman at a Nanaimo bar and stole alcohol and money. He was also convicted of impaired driving and failing to attend court.

Tomoff left the Victoria halfway house where he was staying and never returned. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

The public is urged not to confront Tomoff if they spot him.

"We have recent information that Tomoff is in the Victoria area so that is why we are reaching out now," said Det. Shawn Robson, VicPD's high-risk offender officer.

Tomoff is First Nations and is described as six-feet tall and about 215 pounds. He has green eyes and short grey hair.

Anyone with information on Tomoff's whereabouts is asked to email Victoria police Det. Shawn Robson at shawn.robson@vicpd.ca, or call 911.
