Victoria Foundation board, staff undergo changes

Victoria-based lawyer John van Cuylenborg is the newest member of the Victoria FoundationB次元官网网址檚 board. Van Cuylenborg is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association and has served three terms on the board of the University of Victoria foundation. He joins continuing board members chair Grace Wong Sneddon, vice chair James Darke, treasurer Kyman Chan, Mary E. Mouat, Carey Newman, Ian Wong, Lori Elder, Michael Cridge and Zaman Velji.

Past board chair Rasool Rayani has shifted roles to become president of the FoundationB次元官网网址檚 Honorary Governors while once board chair Patrick Kelly continues in his role as Indigenous cultural advisor.

Board member Mia Maki is leaving the board after serving the maximum of two three-year-terms.

The Victoria Foundation, created though an Act of the BC Legislature, manages and distributes monetary donations for charitable or educational purposes.

To date, it has invested over $222 million to communities in B.C. and across Canada.

All board additions are determined by appointers including a judge of the Supreme Court sitting in Victoria, the mayor of Victoria, the president of the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Victoria, the president of the Victoria Medical Society, and the president of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce.
