West Shore RCMP continue to investigate the Jan. 14 stabbing of Kyle Jansen, 29, which resulted in the Victoria man succumbing to his injuries the following day in hospital.
Police arrested 29-year-old Daniel Thomas Phelps around 3 a.m. Thursday and recommended charges of manslaughter in connection with the Langford incident.
Phelps was due to face the charges on Monday at the Western Communities Courthouse in Colwood, but his court date was pushed back to Jan. 26. He remains in custody.
The incident saw B.C. Ambulance Service respond to a call on Station Avenue near Jacklin Road at approximately 5:15 p.m. last Wednesday. They found Jansen suffering from a stab wound to the leg.
Witness reports stated a sports utility vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene. The vehicle, a grey Ford Explorer, has since been found, but police were saying little about its relation to the investigation.
Further information is still being sought.
Anyone who may have been near Jacklin Road and Station Avenue around the time the victim was found is asked to contact police at 250-474-2264 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
