If grade school students were deciding the next B.C. government, John Horgan and the BC NDP would have a strong majority.
More than 170,000 elementary and high school students participated in this yearB次元官网网址檚 Student Vote program, with 1,092 schools reporting their results by 4:15 p.m. today, according to CIVIX Canada.
The results saw the NDP form government with 60 seats. The Green Party would be the Official Opposition with 14 seats, while the BC Liberals won 12. One independent candidate was elected.
The Student Vote process saw NDP leader John Horgan take his own Langford-Juan de Fuca seat with 55.7 per cent of the vote, while Green leader Andrew Weaver was returned to his seat in Oak Bay-Gordon Head with 48.9 per cent of the votes.
Students sent BC Liberal leader Christy Clark down to defeat with NDP challenger Shelley Cook earning 35.8 per cent of the vote to ClarkB次元官网网址檚 32.1.
