Transit bus loses control near Uptown shopping centre

One person was treated for a minor injury at the scene

One person was injured when a BC Transit bus crashed near Uptown shopping centre Tuesday night.

The route 31 Royal Oak Exchange/James Bay bus was travelling northbound on Douglas Street around 6:50 p.m., when it took a righthand turn onto Carey Road. ThatB次元官网网址檚 where the bus lost control and ended up coming to a stop lengthwise across a sidewalk and partially in some bushes.

BC Transit has released a statement saying this was a single-vehicle accident and the injured person was assessed and released on scene. They were unable to say how many passengers were on the bus at the time.

B次元官网网址淲e are sorry to the passengers that were affected by this incident, and all were able to get on another bus to continue their travel plans. We will work with the driver to support them as appropriate,B次元官网网址 said BC Transit Communications Manager Jonathon Dyck.

The transit authority also said it will be working with the bus driver and conducting an internal investigation to determine if improvement can be made to prevent this from happening in the future.

The Saanich Police Department is also investigating.
