West Shore stores a part of major fundraising effort

The West ShoreB次元官网网址檚 Goldstream Food Bank was among the charitable organizations helped by a holiday food fundraising campaign recently wrapped up by Thrifty Foods.

Food for Families saw the grocery chainB次元官网网址檚 customers donate cash or non-perishable food items for distribution by area food banks. Between Dec. 6 and Jan. 6, more than $90,000 in B次元官网网址渇resh food dollarsB次元官网网址 was donated to 15 food banks in communities served by Thrifty Foods, on top of hundreds of bags of food items collected at the stores, including the Colwood and View Royal outlets.

B次元官网网址淭he giving nature of our customers amazes me year after year,B次元官网网址 said Thrifty Foods general manager Jim Dores said in a release.

B次元官网网址淲e know that family resources are tight during and after Christmas gift-giving, yet each and every store received generous cash donations at the checkout as well as non-perishable goods donated by the bag.B次元官网网址

Since 2008, Food for Families has raised more than $1 million for the purchase of fresh produce and sent countless truckloads of non-perishables to food banks on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
