Multiple agencies were involved in the rescue of an individual that concluded around midnight Tuesday (Aug. 22).
A spokesperson for Joint Rescue Coordination Centre - Victoria said Sooke RCMP took the lead on the call that came in at about 8:30 p.m. regarding a person, or persons, in the water in the Sooke Basin between Sooke and East Sooke.
The individual was able to swim to shore, where they were located and rescued. There is no further information available on their condition at this time.

Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue, with assistance from Cowichan Search and Rescue, and a Royal Canadian Marine Search took part in the effort, as well as a Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Cormorant 902 helicopter from Comox.
