Student safety is a top priority

Friday's school incident ends with one person in custody

West Shore RCMP and the Sooke School District are reiterating that the safety of students is their top priority after a message written on the side of Colwood elementary school caused some concerns late last week.

RCMP responded to the scene just before 8:30 Friday morning due to the nature of the graffiti written on the side of the school. Police maintained a significant presence at the school for the remainder of the day, although the school did not go into lockdown.

As an extra precaution, students remained inside the school during recess and lunch breaks.
