Sooke Road project remains on time and budget

Six bus stop needed to be re-done due to incorrect height

The Sooke Road project remains on budget and on time, the B.C. Transportation Ministry says.

The $10-million project in upgrades to Sooke and West Coast Roads includes new bus stops, a new two-lane bridge on Gillespie Road, a bus queue jump lane, new safety signs, a slow-moving vehicle pullout and rest area.

But earlier this month the project hit a glitch when it was discovered six newly-constructed bus stop cement pads along Sooke Road were sized incorrectly and needed to be re-done.

The height discrepancy was about 10 centimetres, or four inches, and potential for the curb to be bumped by bus bumpers when using the pullouts.
