Sooke Mayor Maja Tait, the Victoria Regional Transit Commission chair, has resigned from her position but will continue to serve on the board as one of the two representatives from the West Shore.
The new chair of the commission is Central Saanich Mayor Ryan Windsor.
Tait was appointed as the transit chair by B.C. Transportation Minister Rob Fleming in February, following her seven-year tenure on the commission.

The transit board meets four times a year, but the chair also meets regularly with provincial officials and is responsible for media interviews.
The transit system has a fleet of 746 buses operating on 37 conventional routes and 18 community bus routes covering Greater Victoria. The system serves a ridership of 21.4 million trips per year.
