In a move to make the enjoyment of SookeB次元官网网址檚 parks and the hiking of its trails more comfortable, council approved a staff recommendation that will see the construction of washroom facilities at John Phillips Memorial Park.

B次元官网网址淚t started with a very fancy model that was going to come in well over $100,000 so we had to find a solution that was within our budget.B次元官网网址�

After rejecting two responses to a request for proposals in August 2018 because the amounts quoted far exceeded the allocated funds, council called on the administration to investigate the purchase of precast units for the John Phillips site.

That process brought forward four quotes for the units.

Council has opted to contract Timberwolf Precast of the $65,000 job, citing its belief that the proposal best matches the requirements for safety, design and character for this high-profile park within an acceptable cost for the facility.

The units, including a water fountain, will be installed this spring and should be available for the summer hiking season.

A second toilet facility at Whiffin Spit has been put on hold for now as an archeological assessment of the location must be completed before construction can proceed. That assessment has been estimated at $8,000 and will take a minimum of six months to complete.
