Shoreline Community Middle School students now have a historic trail to follow to link up with the nearby E&N Rail Trail.
Officially opening tomorrow (June 12) with a ceremony at 2:15 p.m., the Shoreline Trail runs from the rear of the school building off Shoreline Drive and hugs the shoreline before winding up at the new Capital Regional District pump station off Island Highway, below the E&N trail. ItB次元官网网址檚 a joint project between the Town of View Royal, School District 61 and the CRD.
It will not only provide a jogging circuit for the schoolB次元官网网址檚 physical education classes and a safe route to school for students using the rail trail, it re-establishes a historic portage between Esquimalt Harbour and the Gorge Waterway.
Cake will be served at the event and visitors may also tour the nearly completed pump station.
Phase 2 of the rail trail is also now complete, with the connection of the rail bed section to the parallel stretch along Island Highway near the Colwood exit. Cyclists and other users can connect from there with the nearby Galloping Goose Trail.
