The Greater Victoria School District (SD 61) had issued a hold and secure for Spectrum Community School and nearby Marigold elementary school Thursday morning, prompting a police response, now resolved.

UPDATE: The 'hold & secure' at both Spectrum Community School and Marigold Elementary have been lifted.

According to the districtB次元官网网址檚 website, the procedure is used B次元官网网址渨hen it is desirable to secure the school due to an ongoing situation outside the school and not related to the schoolB次元官网网址� such as a near-by robbery or cougar sighting.

B次元官网网址淚n this situation, the school continues to function normally, with the exterior doors being locked until such time as the situation near the school is resolved,B次元官网网址� it reads.

Last week, Bayside middle school in Brentwood Bay after receiving a report of a suspicious person on the school grounds with a possible weapon.

Police did not locate any suspects after members of the Central Saanich Police Department, the RCMP and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team searched the grounds.

One student suffered a panic attack during the incident.
