A protective canine saved a woman from a potentially bad situation. The 35 year old was walking her dog on Humpback Road in Langford near the junction with Sooke Road at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday when a man in a 1980s Volkswagen Rabbit pulled up beside her.
The man driving the vehicle struck up a conversation then reached through the open window and grabbed her arm.
Her dog, a Rottweiler, reacted by biting the manB´ÎÔª¹ÙÍøÍøÖ·™s arm, allowing her to break free from his grasp and run away. She was not physically injured.
The driver is described as Caucasian, aged 40 to 45 with an acne-scarred face and a prominent mole on the left side. He was wearing a white button-up shirt and the car was rust- or red primer-coloured.
West Shore RCMP ask anyone who may have seen the suspect or vehicle in the area to contact them at 250-474-2264 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
While no other cases have been reported, police also encourage residents to report any suspicious activity.
