Areas along Church Road and Otter Point Road in Sooke have been lined with traffic barrels and other construction equipment since summer, and after delays in construction, more delays are expected.

Jeff Carter, the District of SookeB次元官网网址檚 director of operations, said a combination of weather-related repairs and remaining corridor work had set both projects back by about eight weeks.

In August, works crews began upgrading utility services and resurfacing Church Road from Sooke Road to Wadams Way. Shortly afterwards, work began on upgrades to Otter Point Road to Wadams Way, including new sidewalks and bike lanes. Both projects were expected to be completed in November.

B次元官网网址淢ost major delays are behind us now as all deep utility works are finished as well as curb works, road grading, most paving, and the majority of the concrete pours for the sidewalk infrastructure. Minor delays are still anticipated while these corridors are being finished and final construction is realized,B次元官网网址� Carter said in a statement.

Other works are also continuing throughout the district:

B次元官网网址� Crews are working on temporary repairs to Charters Road after weather-related damage, and design work is being completed for significant upgrades. The district is meeting with Emergency Management B.C. to secure additional funding, which would speed up the reconstruction of the road.

B次元官网网址� The Otter Point Road sinkhole has been excavated, and a new road base applied. The road is expected to be re-paved in February or March.

B次元官网网址� In addition to district projects, other temporary impacts may occur due to utility works, events and other activities, Carter said.
