Day two of the 33rd annual Home Expo is underway.
The Q Centre and Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre curling and hockey arenas are hosting over 280 exhibits.
Atlas Junk Removal is one of the exhibits and they service the South Island community from Sidney to Metchosin.
The company is the brainchild of co-owners Aaron Lawson and Wesley Colwell who attended business school at Camosun College and worked junk removal in the summers.
Colwell said they try to recycle or donate as much of the material as they can, that way less goes into the landfill. He said what makes them different from other junk removal companies is that they give customers a price based on weight, as their trucks have on-board weigh scales certified by Measurement Canada. Other companies price based on volume, he said.
Atlas is also involved in the Surfrider Foundation that clears debris off local beaches and to date, Atlas has helped responsibly clear 20,000 pounds of material off South Island beaches.
The expo runs until 5:30 p.m. today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
