Public tip leads to drugs

An anonymous tip led police to Langford drug house

An anonymous tip led to a drug bust in a home on Weaver Place in Langford.

"It's a hop, skip and jump away from an elementary school," said Cpl. Bob Pilot of West Shore RCMP Street Crime Unit.

After arresting two individuals for trafficking a controlled substance, the West Shore RCMP Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant on the home, June 20 at 10 p.m.

"We watched them and surveilled them out, then watched them do some deals," Pilot said.

A 24-year-old male and a 29 year-old female are facing charges for trafficking a controlled substance. They have been released and will be in the Western Communities court house on Sept. 20.

One ounce of cocaine and a quarter-pound of marijuana was discovered in the house. The officers also seized $2,300 and an automobile.

The West Shore RCMP Street Crime Unit had the home under surveillance after receiving the tip early in May.

"Anonymous tips are good, but I could have wrapped this case up a lot faster," said Pilot explaining the tip came in a letter with no contact information. "If people wish to remain anonymous, I'll never reveal a name unless it's a life or death situation."

Pilot suggests members of the public with information to call or send a letter, but to include some contact information to help aid with the case.
