Police seize items allegedly used for drug dealing in Colwood

Two people arrested with almost a pound of crack, a sizable quantity of meth and a 9mm Colt hand gun.

West Shore RCMP have now confiscated a money counter, scales and drug selling paraphernalia from the home of two people arrested with almost a pound of crack, a sizable quantity of meth and a 9mm Colt hand gun.

The Colwood residence, on Pickford Road, was searched soon after the couple was arrested on Sat., July 21 after coming off a ferry arriving at Swartz Bay.

Among the items seized were small plastic bags that police say were to be used to repackage and sell the drugs.

"This is a large bust for us," RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Max Fossum said. "You're probably looking at, just on the crack alone, you're looking at approximately 800 transactions at the street level, for dial doping."

Fossum said that the presence of a money counter in the home is also evidence that the suspects are bigger than street level drug dealers.

"I don't have a money counter at home. I don't know too many people with money counters at home," Fossum said. "But I can tell you a money counter shows you how much cash they would have gone through."

Ryan Andrew Fletcher appeared in Western Communities Courthouse on Monday, July 23 on two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one charge of possession of a firearm.

A female suspect will be facing similar charges, said RCMP.
