Behold the pink parade.

CIBCB次元官网网址檚 Run for the Cure, famous for its pinkosity (as in everyone wears pink), has added a breast cancer survivor parade to this yearB次元官网网址檚 festivities.

Organizers expect approximately 4,300 participants to show up at University of Victoria for the Sunday morning walk and run.

B次元官网网址淣ew is the survivor parade, part of the formal program of the run to honour and recognize the most important people, the survivors,B次元官网网址� said volunteer race co-director Laura Clarke.

The parade will march with the Reynolds school band, followed by a moment of silence.

One in nine Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life, an estimated 22,700 this year.

VictoriaB次元官网网址檚 is the second biggest of the eight Run for the Cure communities taking part in B.C., and last year raised $628,000 of the provincial total of $4.76 million.

B次元官网网址淥ne hundred per cent of the net funds stay in the region and supports prevention or detection research, as well as education and awareness,B次元官网网址� Clarke said.

This yearB次元官网网址檚 routes are the same but the run begins and ends at a new site, UVicB次元官网网址檚 Parking Lot 6, outside of the Interfaith Chapel and Finnerty Gardens.

The five-kilometre run loops the Ring Road once with an out-and-back along Cedar Hill and Gordon Head roads. The one-km walk route stays in the south west area of the campus.

The walk and run start at 9 a.m. with an awards ceremony at 10 a.m.
