A pedestrian in Oak Bay was struck by a vehicle on Saturday morning (Nov. 25) as she crossed St. Patrick Street at Oak Bay Avenue. The vehicle was turning onto Oak Bay Avenue when the accident occurred.
The pedestrian was taking to hospital with what was believed at the time to be a possible broken hip; however, she has since been released from the hospital.
The driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
It is possible that the roof pillar on the vehicle contributed to the accident, obscuring the driverB次元官网网址檚 view.
This wknd a pedestrian was struck by a car at St Patrick & Ave. Pls slow down on roads, stop completely at signs馃洃, & ensure your car's pillars aren't obscuring your view. Don't decimate a family/community to save a few seconds.馃應

B次元官网网址淚t is complacency that can lead to tragedies,B次元官网网址 says Bernoties.
ICBC launched a last month to highlight the fact that almost two times more pedestrians are injured in crashes from November to January than the rest of the year, due to weather changes and the decrease in daylight hours.
