Cpl. Chris Manseau of the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP offered this update some 24 hours after a southbound Volvo struck the pedestrian near the intersection of East Saanich Road and Leal Road in North Saanich Sunday.
The man was walking in a crosswalk when the collision happened.

Crews took the man to an area hospital with what police describe as serious injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Manseau said the sun might have blinded the driver, but could not confirm this as the cause.
