Sidewalks along the south side of the Island Highway Improvement Project were installed Monday, bringing an end to the B次元官网网址渨alking school busB次元官网网址� for students.
Since September traffic flaggers have walked students through the project before and after school. The sidewalk will now provide a safe, continuous walkway.
For vehicles, single-lane alternating traffic continues weekdays 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews are paving the lanes and pouring curbs this week. Lane closures are expected to last until early-June B次元官网网址� three months later than proposed when the project began.
Crews from BC Hydro, Shaw and Telus are on site to move wires from poles to a new underground system.
