Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for much of Vancouver Island as forecasters warn of possible damage caused by strong winds.

Winds between 70 km/h and 90 km/h are expected in Greater Victoria, likely to become stronger Friday afternoon.

Environment Canada issued alerts for a system it calls B次元官网网址渧igorous,B次元官网网址 cautioning residents that damage may affect roof shingles and windows. They also remind residents that loose objects blowing in the wind could also cause injury or damage.

Similar advisories have been issued along the east coast of Vancouver Island from Duncan to Nanaimo, Courtney to Campbell River and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

High winds have also caused B.C. Ferries to cancel morning sailings between Vancouver Island and the mainland, and as of 9:15 a.m. BC Hydro has isolated outages on the mid-island.

Weather advisories are in place across the Island, although the winds are expected to die down first along the western shore.

Another storm is expected to hit Vancouver Island on Saturday evening, Dec. 15.
