Mike Davies is looking forward to getting down to the business of helping the West Shore get to know itself a lot better.
Davies joins the Gazette from sister Black Press publication Campbell River Mirror, where he spent the last half of 2014 after graduating with two degrees B次元官网网址 professional writing and journalism B次元官网网址 from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. ThatB次元官网网址檚 also where he got his start in the industry B次元官网网址 running the TRU student newspaper, The Omega, for three years after putting in a year as an all-purpose reporter/photographer.
Davies takes the post opened up when Gazette reporter/photographer Angela Cowan transferred to fellow Black Press paper the Peninsula B次元官网网址 Review in Sidney.
B次元官网网址淲hile weB次元官网网址檙e sad to see Angela leave us, weB次元官网网址檙e thrilled that Mike has chosen to make the trek down Island to join us,B次元官网网址 said Gazette editor Don Descoteau. B次元官网网址淗is enthusiasm for community journalism will help us enhance our coverage of the West Shore.B次元官网网址
DaviesB次元官网网址 partner, Pam, and four-year-old son, Sven, remain in Campbell River for the time being while he gets settled into his new digs.
When heB次元官网网址檚 not engaging with the community around him, Davies is an avid golfer and reader and a film buff. He is writing his first novel, assembling a short story and poetry collection and is beginning work on his autobiography.
So itB次元官网网址檚 clear that he loves words.
HeB次元官网网址檒l be glad to hear of events you think he should attend, news he should know about, or even if you just want to say B次元官网网址渨elcome to townB次元官网网址 by email at mdavies@goldstreamgazette.com.
