City of Langford staff, acting on a plea from a nearby resident, came to the rescue of a crow trapped in netting above a fastball backstop at Centennial Park on Monday morning.
B次元官网网址淢y wife told me there was something going on with a bunch of crows out here,B次元官网网址 said Furber Road resident Dan Peterson, staring up at the netting. B次元官网网址淲hen I got out here, they were fighting with an eagle, defending their buddy, I guess.B次元官网网址
The eagle was attempting to get at a crow that had become tangled, but his feathered friends were fending the predator off while the crow struggled unsuccessfully to free itself.
Langford city staff arrived minutes after receiving the call from Peterson, with a bucket truck, some sturdy gloves and a set of clippers, to see if they could free the bird.
Mike Gordon went up in the bucket and managed to free the crow, being careful to ensure the bird didnB次元官网网址檛 fall during the process.
The crow was B次元官网网址渃ut up pretty badly,B次元官网网址 he said, so it was taken to the Wild ARC rehabilitation centre in Metchosin to receive medical attention.
