Seniors in Metchosin have a new space to pop in to use a computer, have a cup of tea, solve a puzzle or just have a conversation.

The Metchosin SeniorB次元官网网址檚 Information Resource Centre opened a few weeks ago and itB次元官网网址檚 already well used, with people even bringing in  grandchildren.

B次元官网网址淲e are an age-friendly location,B次元官网网址 said volunteer Mary Gidney.

The centre is a space for seniors to meet and get information. ItB次元官网网址檚 also the home of the seniors information line. Seniors can call for a free ride to doctorB次元官网网址檚 appointments or find information about a trusted person to hire for handiwork or snow removal.

B次元官网网址淚tB次元官网网址檚 still so new that we still arenB次元官网网址檛 sure everything we are going to offer. We are seeking input from seniors to see what they want,B次元官网网址 said the 62-year-old.

Gidney explained the centre will help Metchosin seniors because living in the rural district can be isolating.

B次元官网网址淵ou could live on five acres and never even know who your neighbours are,B次元官网网址 she said.

The centre operates through the Metchosin Community Association with a $20,000 grant from the Union of B.C. Municipalities geared to help seniors age in place.

The centre is open to seniors from across the West Shore, but the ride service is provided only for Metchosin residents.

The centre will host an open house on March 21 from 1 to 7 p.m.

ItB次元官网网址檚 open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4495 Happy Valley Rd.
