A distraught man jumped off the Johnson Street Bridge on Tuesday and had to be rescued from the inner harbour by police officers.
Police arrived around 2:30 p.m. to find a 31-year-old View Royal man treading water and tried to talk him to shore.
"He started to sink below the water and it was at that time the officer dove in from a 10-foot-tall ledge, and managed to pull the man to shore," said police spokesman Mike Tucker.
Paramedics treated the man, who was taken to hospital with no apparent injuries.
