Dozens of students at the University of Victoria staged BԪַThe Justice or Just Us?BԪַ Day of Action walkout around on Ring Road Wednesday morning.
UVicBԪַs Indigenous Law StudentsBԪַ Association staged the walkout and protest march to demand equal justice for First Nations people standing before a court of law.
According to the event, BԪַIndigenous peoples across Turtle Island are reeling from the recent acquittals of Gerald Stanley and Raymond Cormier. The settler BԪַjusticeBԪַ system leaves BԪַjust usBԪַ behind - to bury our children in vain, to bear the burden of institutional discrimination, and to count our missing and murdered women and girls.BԪַ
They were joined by activists and First Nation elders who held a ceremony out front of the Faculty of Law building before campus security closed traffic on ring road for the peaceful protest.
About 100 people took part.
