The Canadian Mental Health Association Mid-Island will be hosting two suicide prevention workshops in Sooke this month.
The workshops, called safeTALK, helps participants gain knowledge and training on how to help a person who is having suicidal thoughts.
Participants will learn how to identify people who may be suicidal, how to approach them and talk to them about it, and how to connect them with community supports and resources that could save the personB次元官网网址檚 life.
B次元官网网址淚 think itB次元官网网址檚 important to do this in every community because on Vancouver Island alone, it averages out to we lose someone to suicide every three days,B次元官网网址 said Vicki Swan, administration coordinator with the CMHA Mid-Island.

The workshops take place March 13 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at SEAPARC, and March 14 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Sooke Hospice Society.
Those who attend are welcomed to bring snacks and beverages. Coffee and tea will be provided.
