The court date for the accused in the April 2016 death of former Sooke resident RCMP Const. Sarah Beckett has been delayed until May 18 on the request of Crown counsel.
Langford resident Kenneth Jacob Fenton is facing five charges resulting from the crash, including impaired driving causing death, following an early morning crash at the intersection of Peatt Road and Goldstream Avenue in Langford. He was due to appear in Western Communities court Thursday.
Fenton has yet to enter a plea and has had his case delayed numerous times since being charged last September.
He wasnB次元官网网址檛 present on April 6, the last time the case was heard, but both his lawyer Dale Marshall and Crown counsel indicated that positive talks had taken place and the two sides were working on an agreed statement of facts.

McLaughlin indicated that avoiding a trial is B次元官网网址渃ertainly one of the optionsB次元官网网址 given these discussions and that the Crown is optimistic the May 18 date will give the sides enough time to reach a resolution.
