Langford is eyeing an overhaul of Glen Lake beach park if it can get a share of provincial recreation funding.

The City is submitting a request for $400,000 to the Community Recreation Program to improve the Glen Lake beach access, repair the accessible fishing dock and install picnic tables, greenery, a playground and trails. The entire project is estimated at $500,000.

B次元官网网址淕len Lake (park) needs to be fixed up. ItB次元官网网址檚 a well used area,B次元官网网址 said Coun. Lanny Seaton, chair of the parks committee. B次元官网网址淎nd if there is enough grant money weB次元官网网址檇 like to put in a sand volleyball court.B次元官网网址

The province has committed $30 million to the Community Recreation Program, and competition for funding will likely be fierce. View Royal and Colwood have both applied for $400,000 grants for respective trail, park and cycling lane improvements.

Seaton said Langford considered seeking funding for its $4.5 million bike lane network, which includes a bridge over the Trans-Canada Highway, but doubted such an expensive project would get the nod.

B次元官网网址(Last year) we had a big grant, so we went smaller,B次元官网网址 Seaton said, referring to the $4.7 million provincial grant for the Sportsplex.

B次元官网网址淲e decided thereB次元官网网址檚 a better chance for Glen Lake. WeB次元官网网址檒l still do the bike plan in-house. WeB次元官网网址檒l do as much as we can every year.B次元官网网址
