Langford councilor wants transparency on committee chair resignation

Langford Coun. Matt Sahlstrom called on fellow councillor Lillian Szpak to explain her resignation as chair of the protective services committee B次元官网网址渋n the spirit of transparency,B次元官网网址 during MondayB次元官网网址檚 council meeting.

Szpak has not served as chair of the protective services committee since February after she resigned from the position. In an interview, Szpak said she resigned temporarily while a privacy investigation and an ombudsman complaint against her is resolved. Coun. Roger Wade was voted in as her replacement at Feb. 7B次元官网网址檚 council meeting.

Szpak added she was surprised by SahsltromB次元官网网址檚 motion. She said sheB次元官网网址檚 seen nothing in writing about the investigation and doesnB次元官网网址檛 know the timeline when it will be completed.

Szpak was not present at MondayB次元官网网址檚 meeting. Sahlstrom gave notice of the motion during MondayB次元官网网址檚 meeting, and at a future meeting council will ask for a seconder.

The City of Langford declined to comment.
